DIR/Floortime is a dynamic and play-based intervention designed to promote children’s foundation social, emotional, communication, and cognitive development. Developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan and Dr. Serena Wieder, the DIR (Developmental, Individual-Differences, Relationship-Based) model and related Floortime strategies focus on engaging children in meaningful interactions that build upon their individual strengths and challenges. In Memoriam:
This program is run in memory of Rebecca Shahmoon Shanok, LCSW, PhD, a pioneer in parent-child relational work and a champion for families and children. A close friend of both DIR/Floortime founders, Stanley Greenspan, MD and Serena Wieder, MD, Rebecca was a long-time faculty member of ICDL, a founding board member of NY Zero-to-Three Network, and founder of Collaborations for Growth. Rebecca was Dr. Lauren’s mentor for more than a decade; her immeasurable contributions to Dr. Lauren’s practice are just a fraction of her continued immense legacy.
